Take the inner strength to fight your way out of the dark place he left you in, find a way to take a chance and be happy.”

Bad Boy, Ryder Davenport comes into Dina Fowlers life in the middle of her own personal hell.  Still coming to terms with the death of her parents, she pushes everyone away.  When she trusts the wrong man, putting her in a bad relationship she felt she couldn’t escape, Ryder comes along.  Enjoying his play boy ways, fast cars, motorcycles and a new woman in his bed nightly, Ryder had no thoughts of settling down.  That is, until he sees the damage a man can do when he meets a very broken Dina.  He changes in hopes of one day being enough for her.  But, can she ever feel safe with a man again?     Ryder has restored hundreds of classic cars, can he restore Dina’s heart?

My Thoughts:

To me this is a love story with the “love at first sight” element. Both Dina and Ryder were in separate relationships when they first met but as soon as Ryder laid eyes on Dina he knew immediately that he was a goner. Dina’s interest sparked as well and as soon as her possessive boyfriend caught her staring he proceeded to manhandle her out of sheer jealousy.

It was never any of his business but  seeing a  broken and beaten woman, he decides to make it so.  With the help of their friends, that night Ryder becomes Dina’s saving grace. He knew then on that Dina was someone who he wanted permanently in his life and it was high time to get his act together. For her he would do anything. He would get his life straight and wait until she was ready.

Over the years they keep on bumping into each other but it was never seemed like the right time.  Three years after that horrific night they simply can not fight the inevitable any longer. They both decide that it was high time to give what they had a chance.

I liked Ryder’s character, sure he was a “love them, and leave them” kind of guy in the beginning but as soon as he found Dina he goes through hoops to make things right. He becomes that honorable, responsible guy that everyone loves.

Dina was great too, she was  heartbroken from loosing her parents but  she was still able to build a successful career. Despite the impact of her failed relationship she still remained steadfast. Her relationship with her bestie – Maggie  was something I really admired. And I am definitely looking forward to reading her story next.

I liked that even with their smoldering chemistry that it took them years to act upon. Both needed those years to mature individually and I think that was what made their relationship even more perfect. I also enjoyed that it was written in both their POV’s. I seemed to have enjoyed Ryder’s point of view better than Dina’s for some unexplainable reason.

The only thing that I would change about this one? I wish it was longer! I also wish that one of the exes could’ve made a surprise appearance…give this story a touch of spice, a little more oomph. For a debut story though I thought it was great and really do look forward in reading more of this series.
